The “Istituto di Economia dei Media” (Institute of Media Economics) gives with this Report a detailed and updated view (it features the figures concerning years 1995/96), which is completed by analyses and maps on the emerging trends and on the performance of single sectors (television, cinema, home video, telecommunications). The general conditions and the development context of the industry of communications are changing at a swift pace each year, bringing an acceleration of the confluence processes between different sectors and the diversification strategies among the numerous communications groups. This is all taking place in an uncertain situation as to provisions. Hence the value of an overall and complete view on the development of techno-communications in Italy, as the one offered in this volume.
