Fondazione Rosselli has been assigned by the Region of Piedmont to carry out a technology foresight study in order to provide a medium/ long term perspective (2012-2015) of Piedmont’s Technology Platforms, focusing on Advanced Logistics, Info-mobility, Product Traceability, and Sustainable Chemicals.
The results obtained by the study are mainly designed to enable local policy makers in Piedmont to prioritize available public R&D funding more adaquately according to the technolgy platforms’ future development potentials.
The methodological approach adopted by Fondazione Rosselli in former foresight studies followed the international recognized Delphi Method by combining an expert workshop to facilitate discussion between regional high-level stakeholders from academy, public institutions and industry with conduction of a detailed survey using questionaires and individual interviews.
The foresight methodology used in the recent study comprises the following consecutive elements for each technology platform:
• Identification of regional high-level stakeholders from academy, public institutions and industry.
• Organization of an expert workshop in order to facilitate an expert discussion and to identfy underlying enabling technologies and possibile applicative fields.
• Conduction of a detailed survey using questionaires and individual interviews.
• Evalution of the positioning of the region science and research system for each of the identified enabling technologies.
• The output obtained will be presented in form of a final report to regional Ministry of Research.
